GadgetTrak founder Ken Westin will be discussing laptop theft and prevention as well as other endpoint security best practices at MacForce this Saturday. Ken will show you how easy it is to circumvent password protected login screens and popular techniques used to steal laptops and how to thwart them. He will discuss how to not be a victim of theft, as well as measures you can take in case your laptop is stolen, even ways you can teach your Mac how to defend itself and the data the resides on it. A special deal will also be provided to the attendees on MacTrak, GadgetTrak’s advanced theft recovery software for OS X, which can tell you who stole your Mac, where they are and even what they’re wearing.

GadgetTrak will have a booth at MacWorld again this year (Booth #3734) , which is turning out to be a historical event as it appears to be the last MacWorld where Apple will be participating, so we are excited to be part of it. MacWorld has been an exciting even for GadgetTrak, last year we had a lot of folks visit our booth and provide feedback regarding the products we offer and is this feedback that drives our development and innovation, so we are very excited to attend again this year and meet our customers and partners. GadgetTrak’s MacTrak has also been selected for several features including the First Looks program, as well as the pre-show product showcase and is also candidate for Best of Show.

Today mobile devices know where we are, who we talk to, how much money we have in the bank and has access to corporate data, personal photos and other sensitive information.
Data and identity theft due to mobile phone theft and vulnerabilities are rising concerns. However, with both businesses and developers mobile security usually takes a back seat to features, convenience and time-to-market.
Ken Westin, the Founder and CTO of GadgetTrak, will lead a spirited discussion touching on mobile security and privacy.
About Ken
Ken is a creative technologist with 10-years experience in computer security, development, programming, design and marketing. He has developed and managed cutting edge applications and websites for companies including Tektronix, iovation, Centennial Software and both developer and instructor at Pacific University. As founder of GadgetTrak he developed GadgetTrak’s original patent-pending solution for removable media theft recovery and leads product management and technology innovation.
Ken holds a B.A. from Lewis & Clark College, an M.S. in Internet Systems Development from the University of Portsmouth and has various certifications.
